Troubleshooting
Fixes for the common snags — activation errors, a missing builder, a slow render note, and upload problems.
Most issues come down to one of four things: the license, the product toggle, render timing, or an upload. Find your symptom below.
Activation won’t succeed
When you save your license key and it doesn’t activate, the plugin shows a reason. Match it here:
- “All activation seats are in use.” Both of your 2 seats are already claimed. Deactivate the license on a site you no longer use, then activate here. See License and seats for the steps.
- “This license key was not found.” The key doesn’t match one on the platform. Re-copy it from your email — watch for a missing character or a stray space at the start or end.
- “This license has been suspended” / “revoked” / “expired.” These are account states, not typos. See what each state means, and contact support@makegangsheet.com if it’s unexpected.
- Activation can’t reach the platform. Check the API Base URL field under WooCommerce → Make Gang Sheet → Connection. If it’s empty or looks wrong, ask us for the correct address at support@makegangsheet.com.
The builder button is missing on a product
If the gang sheet builder doesn’t appear on a product page, work through these in order:
- Is the builder enabled for that product? Open the product, go to the Gang Sheet Builder tab in the Product data panel, and confirm Gang sheet builder is ticked. Save the product after ticking it. See Connect a product.
- Is the license active? The builder only embeds while the license shows Active on the WooCommerce → Make Gang Sheet screen.
- Does the product have a roll width? If neither the product override nor your Builder Defaults supplies a valid roll width, the builder has no sheet to show. Set at least one roll width.
- Are you looking at a cached page? Check the product in a private/incognito window, and clear any page-caching or optimization plugin’s cache so shoppers see the current version.
The render note is slow to appear
If an order doesn’t show the “Gang sheet print file ready” note or the Download print file button right away, it’s almost always timing, not a failure.
The plugin checks on render progress using WordPress’s built-in scheduled tasks, and on a low-traffic store those tasks only run when someone visits the site. So the note can lag on a quiet shop.
Customers can’t upload artwork
If a customer reports that an upload won’t work:
- File size and type. Very large files, or files that aren’t standard image types, can be rejected. Ask the customer to try a standard image export at a sensible size.
- A flaky connection. Uploads need a stable connection; a dropped mobile signal mid-upload is a common culprit. Retrying on a better connection usually clears it.
- Browser extensions or private modes. Ad-blockers and strict privacy extensions occasionally interfere. Trying another browser, or a normal (non-incognito) window, is a quick way to rule that out.
Still stuck?
If none of the above fixes it, email support@makegangsheet.com with your store URL, the order number (if it’s about a render), and a screenshot of what you’re seeing. That’s usually enough for us to pinpoint it fast.
